Riding Out the Season

by @ 5:45 am. Filed under 2011 Orioles

With a little more then a month left in the season, Orioles fans have little to do but watch their team and hope for next year.  It’s never going to be easy playing in the AL East but the Orioles have some minor league studs and if guys like Brian Matusz pan out, the Orioles will be good sooner rather than later.  Still, going through another 90-100 loss season is rough.

Last night, the Angels made short work of the Orioles.  Jo Jo Reyes was hammered for five early runs and he fell to 6-10.  Even the pen was hit hard and they gave up three runs.

Adam Jones drove in two runs and scored once in the 8-3 loss.  Matt Wieters went two for three with an RBI.  Mark Reynolds had the tough luck game with three strikeouts.  If Reynolds finishes with a .212 batting average which is where he’s at now, and assuming he hits 30 home runs, it’ll be the fourth lowest batting average by a guy with 30 home runs.  He set the record last year with a .198 average.

Tommy Hunter gets the start today.  He has yet to really find his stuff since coming over from Texas.
